Monday and Friday

Forest School Programme
“Rebentos à Descoberta” is a forest school program designed for children aged 5–10 years, run by Giulia Leoni. Giulia holds a degree in Art Education and a Master’s in Sculpture, bringing her creativity and passion to the forest. The program runs weekly on Mondays and Fridays and offers a calm, nature-based environment where children can explore freely, lead their own play, and reconnect with nature at their own rhythm. Learning is supported through self-directed play, attentive adult observation, and educational documentation shared with families.

rockclimbing
Monday

Every Monday we meet at the Parque Desportivo de Água de Pena for a rock-climbing session on the climbing wall with Steve Fernandes.

Steve is a British-Portuguese climber who grew up in London before making Madeira his home. He started climbing in 2021 and has since become four-time regional bouldering champion and national champion in 2023. After coaching at a climbing gym in Funchal, he set out on his own in September 2025 and now runs sessions at the Água de Pena Sports Park.

Coaching children is something Steve is genuinely passionate about. He believes climbing is one of the best sports for building confidence, focus, and resilience — helping children work through fears and mental blocks not just on the wall but also in life.

Please bring water, snacks, and appropriate clothing in a backpack.

Monday and Wednesday

Excursion with Giulia
Thursday

Every Thursday, Giulia takes a small group of kids on a day out across Madeira. Giulia is the beloved facilitator behind our Forest School programme “Rebentos à Descoberta” — and she brings that same warmth, curiosity, and attentiveness to these Thursday adventures.

Where they go is shaped by the children themselves. One week it might be a museum, the next a beach, a hike, a bike ride, a visit to our CDT hub or a playground discovery. The group moves at their own pace, eats lunch together as a picnic, and comes home tired in the best way.

It’s a simple, real, unhurried way for kids to explore the island — and for parents to have a full Thursday free.

Location: Meeting point Machico
Days: Thursday, 10:00 – 16:00
Age group: 5–12 years

Coming soon

Twice a month, Kyah will lead a 2-3-hour Ocean Day focused on building children’s connection with the sea. Through activities such as swimming practice, introductory surfing, ocean safety and awareness, beach exploration, and occasional beach cleanups, children gain confidence in the water while developing respect and care for the marine environment.

Siling Instructor
Coming soon

Alexandre brings a deep, lived connection to the ocean and the sailing life. With hands-on experience in offshore navigation and boat maintenance — and a path toward Yachtmaster certification — he knows what it means to truly work at sea, not just sail it.
In these roughly 3-hour sailing experiences, Alexandre takes a small group of children out on the water and invites them to become real crew members. Children learn how wind powers a boat, get to grips with the basics of sails and navigation, take a turn at the helm, and take part in simple onboard tasks — all in a relaxed, safe, and genuinely fun environment.

Snacks and drinks are included.
