Best Way to Get There (don’t just follow Google Maps)
If you follow Google Maps, don’t take the exit it suggests. Instead, take the exit suggested below, and then let Google Maps recalculate the route.
If you are coming from Funchal / West
- Exit the VR1 at junction 18.
- Take the left turn, following signs for Complexo Desportivo de Gaula.
- Continue on this road for approximately 3 minutes.
- At the T-junction, take a left onto ER 206 towards Complexo Desportivo de Gaula.
- Continue for another 5 minutes, passing Obraseiro De Gaula and the Gaula Church (Igreja Paroquial Da Achada, Gaula).
- After about 2 minutes, take a right at the sign for Complexo Desportivo de Gaula and EB1/PE Dr. Clemente Tavares School (Caminho do Pico Norte).
- Drive for about 1 minute, then take the right turn onto Caminho da Faia.
If you are coming from Machico / East
- Exit the VR1 at junction 19, Gaula/Sao Pedro
- Take the right turn, following signs to Gaula
- Continue about 3 minutes then take a right at the sign for Gaula (onto the ER 206)
- Continue on the ER 206, passing Obraseiro De Gaula and the Gaula Church (Igreja Paroquial Da Achada, Gaula).
- After about 2 minutes, take a right at the sign for Complexo Desportivo de Gaula and EB1/PE Dr. Clemente Tavares School (Caminho do Pico Norte).
- Drive for about 1 minute, then take the right turn onto Caminho da Faia.
