Project Details

  • Location: VitaVerdi, Caminho da Faia N 9, 9100-018 Gaula, Madeira, Portugal
  • Target Group: Children aged 5 to 12 years (starting with 5 to 9 years for the September 2024 Pilot-group)
  • Learning Environment: Outdoor classrooms and covered learning hubs, multi-age collaboration
  • Languages: Instruction in Portuguese and English (Online school is taught in English, so basic English knowledge is required)
  • Program:
    • From 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
    • Daily focused online learning session
    • Self-directed learning with focus on free play, core academics, arts, music, science, permaculture, Portuguese language and history, inner growth, technology, and entrepreneurship
    • Bi-weekly democratic meetings
    • Monthly immersive exploration theme (collaborating with external partners and parents)
    • Active participation and projects in the local community
  • Staffing: Minimum 10 and maximum 16 children per fully accredited teacher with experience in democratic or Montessori education, supported by one assistant
  • Optional Add-ons: Catered lunch, extracurricular activities (to be discussed)

Resident Families

Enrollment is available throughout the year.

If your children aren’t yet registered in public school:

After enrolling at Campus da Terra and our partnered online school, there is no need to declare anything and there is no need to get previous permission.

If your children are already registered in Portuguese public school:

To enroll at Campus da Terra, get in touch with us first. We will help you through the process and provide legal support.

Traveling Families/Worldschooling/Digital Nomads

Continuous enrollment (participation for a minimum of 1 month and a maximum of 3 months). No online school enrollment needed
